Campbell's Soup /GATEWAY Redevelopment Plan    GATEWAY AREA IN NEED OF REDEVELOPMENT STUDY

Campbell's Soup's new World Headquarters, in Camden, New Jersey moves forward. Another blown redevelopment opportunity by Camden's myopic leadership, and another environmentally unfriendly development by a Fortune 500 company in America. Waste of space, and Vehicle Miles Travelled (VMT) to reach site, far offset LEED certification of new buildings. Campbell's ignores mass transit in favor of car. NJ's taxpayer funded Office of Smart Growth ( formerly known as the State Planning Board) and CNU state members remain silent in face of rules violations.

1. PATCO HI SPEEDLINE: Clean modern high speed commuter rail. Connects Eastern suburbs to Camden and Philadelphia. Connects to downtown Camden one minute away. Downtown Philadelphia is less than ten minutes by rail from Campbell's World headquarters in Camden, New Jersey. One transfer in Philly connects to all Philadelphia suburbs, neighborhoods, AMTRAK and Airport. Campbell's as master redeveloper of the larger surrounding GATEWAY redevelopment zone, has no plans to incorporate mass transit assets into plan, favoring auto's, parking lots, "walk-ability" inhibiting low density and air pollution instead.

2. RIVERLINE connects Delaware River towns from Camden to Trenton, with AMTRAK connection in Trenton.

3. RT. 30 at this point is about 20 seconds from Benjamin Franklin Bridge, which connects to Downtown Philadelphia.
