Camden Combines Two Great Ideas To Make One Big Stupid One.

Preserving the city's most beautiful building and providing affordable housing for seniors are both great ideas.  You can count on one hand the number of architecturally interesting buildings in Camden, and the Security Trust Building is probably the jewel. To give it up as a social service center in the very heart of downtown bespeaks of city officials lack of confidence that the city itself can ever be anything but a social service institution rather than a real city with marketable assets. Once it was restored, the Security Trust Building would certainly have attracted private investment and been an integral part of a revived Camden's high end residential or commercial activities , providing needed ratables for the city.
